Tintin
Tintin is a series of original paintings by Doğu Çankaya started in 2020. Based on the illustrated books called ‘The Adventures of Tintin’ and characters created by the Belgian cartoonist Hergé, Doğu depicks moments and figures from the books and engages them with his world. The series also contains original drawings and collages by Doğu as sub-layers. His reoccurring drawings such as the humanoid dogū figurine from the historic Japonese Jōmon period (14.000 BC - 300 BC) and several original characters and abstract lines carrying Doğu’s distinct signiture are showing up in diverse paintings of the series. Hand-moderated frames make a playful aspect of the process and are integrated in the work in a new way. Also, collected materials such as pins, stickers and so on find their place in the paintings. ‘Tintin by Doğu’ is an ongoing project in 2021.
Tintin serisi Doğu’nun 2020 yılında başladığı bir resim grubunun genel adıdır. Belçikalı çizgi roman yazarı Hergé’nin Tintin’in Maceraları adlı resimli kitaplarında yer alan karakterlerin ve anların Doğu’nun dünyası içinde yeniden yer bulmalarından yola çıkar. Seri, Doğu’nun soyut, karakteristik çizgileri ve sıklıkla resimlerinde yer verdiği orijinal figürleri ile Japon Jōmon dönemi (MÖ 14.000 - MÖ 300) insansı dogū heykelciğine ait figürün tekrarlayan kullanımıyla Doğu’nun belirgin imzasını taşır. Sürecin parçası olarak resimlerin çerçeveleri Doğu’nun elinden geçmiş, üzerlerinde oynanmış ve oyunlu biçimlerde yapıtlara dahil edilmiştir. Toplu iğne ya da renkli stickerlar gibi bir araya getirilmiş malzemeler de resimlerde yer alır. ‘Tintin by Doğu’ projesi 2021’de çoğalmaya devam etmektedir.
